Employees violate phone privileges a lot. My mom has to keep her phone on her because I am allergic to tree nuts and cantaloupe, but my situation is life and death. People use those types of privileges to text their friends. I would fire them for taking advantage of me. I would give them 3 chances because 3 strikes and your out. Students abuse these rights as well and teachers should enforce the rules and take away their phones.
#27: Look at this ad. Even though this job advertisement is poking fun at poor employability skills, we all have flaws. Looking at that list and pondering other possible “issues,” which one do you feel employees violate the most? Would you fire him/her for it? How many chances would you give? Do you see students violating these things in the classroom? How should the teacher handle the situation? Use 3-5 sentences to respond. You do not have to answer every question.

Why? What have you accomplished that would make you qualified for this job? That would be the most challenging question in my opinion. I wouldn't want to sound braggy but I also want to have the best answer. If I'm going for a cake decorating job, I don't want to brag and say I was the best in my class, but I also don't want to not say it. I wa #25: Communication, attitude, job qualifications (can you DO the job already or training is needed), and appearance are the top four categories that employers look at when they interview you. Rank them #1-4 (1 best-4 worst) according to which items you feel are most important. Then, tell me why you ranked ____ as #1. #1 would be Attitude. Attitudes are really hard to change. Attitude is important because you need someone with a good altitude already. If someone doesn't have a good attitude, you could be waiting awhile for their attitude to change. #2 would be Job Qualifications. #3 would be Communication. #4 would be Appearance. The real most important order: #1: 40% Attitude, #2 and #3 (tie): 25% Communication and Appearance, #4: 10% Job Qualifications #24: Visit this link. Do you believe it his fair to only hire and sell clothes for the “cool” kids? Describe your thoughts within this journal. Trivia Fact: A&F burns their damaged/defective clothing instead of donating it to places like Salvation Army/the homeless to ensure that “uncool/overweight” people do not wear their brand. I don't think that this is very fair. A&F should be donating the bad clothes to the organizations that give them to the people that need them. A&F should be hiring whoever is best for the job. Some of the non-"cool" kids are actually better qualified for jobs. The title of this article is “What To Wear (And Not To Wear) To An Interview [Infographic]”. This article is by David Schepp. The topic is about what should and shouldn’t wear to an interview. Everyone should know that women shouldn’t wear neon nail polish. It’s a fact that for a professional job, if you don’t look the part, you won’t get the part. The fact is, if you wear booty shorts and a tank top, a lawyer won’t hire you. I agree because I wouldn’t hire someone who wears booty shorts and flip flops to an interview for a cake decorating job. I would like someone who wears a little bit of make-up, a natural shade of nail polish, and a nice outfit. If you’re going to wear a suit, you should wear a fitted suit that is either grey, dark grey, navy blue, or black. If you’re going to wear a skirt, it should match your blazer and should cover your thighs when you sit down. Men should wear ties made of a high quality silk and a color that slightly pops. I don’t know anyone who relates to this topic. I will use this information to benefit me in the future. I will never wear neon nail polish to an interview. I will never wear platforms, stilettos, or pumps. Instead, I will wear a leather pump at about medium-height. I will only use a small dab of make-up that is a natural shade. This can help me get a job so I can enter the work world. This article can apply to our current chapter because our current chapter is about interviews. The article is what to wear and not wear during an interview. conservative (http://definr.com/conservative) adj 1: resistant to change [ant: liberal] 2: opposed to liberal reforms 3: avoiding excess; "a conservative estimate" [syn: cautious] 4: unimaginatively conventional; "a colorful character in the buttoned-down, dull-gray world of business"- Newsweek [syn: button-down, buttoned-down] 5: conforming to the standards and conventions of the middle class; "a bourgeois mentality" [syn: bourgeois, materialistic] n : a person who has conservative ideas or opinions [syn: conservativist] [ant: liberal] Rasmussen (http://definr.com/Rasmussen) n : Danish ethnologist and arctic explorer; led expeditions into the Arctic to find support for his theory that Eskimos and North American Indians originally migrated from Asia (1879-1933) [syn: Rasmussen, {Kund Johan Victor Rasmussen}] #23: According to Robert DiGiacomo, edgy looks, especially those involving the baring of cleavage, skin or tattoos, rarely cut it at the office, unless you happen to work in a trend-conscious field like advertising or fashion. Oddly enough, pajamas are a common outfit choice for teenagers. Do you feel that PJs have their place in school? What does this say about the student..if anything at all? Pajamas should not be allowed in school unless it is a Pajama Day or some sort of spirit day. Pajamas make you think a student is lazy and doesn't care about anything. Pajamas are not professional. If employees can't show a tattoo or a little bit of skin, teenagers, who are close to being those employees, should not be able to wear pajamas. Pajamas are for sleeping in, not wearing as clothes. #22: Describe your job/career search experience. Did you discover locating a job/career difficult? Which one was the most challenging? Why? I did not find it difficult. The most challenging was the Job Career Company side. The left side was really easy because about 45 Meijers were hiring a cake decorator. There was only about 3 companies hiring. Cakes A Bloomin' seemed like the best cake decorator job of the three. The most challenging would have to be the right side with Cakes A Bloomin'. #21: Check out the Google philosophy. If you had 20% of school time to work on a project that could enhance your life (or a class that would enhance to school in some way), how would you use your time? Gaming, sleeping, and the like just doesn’t cut it. I would work on learning more cake decorating skills. I want to be a baker and own a bakery. I could use this extra time that I don't usually have to enhance my skills. If my skills are really good and better than others, I could really succeed in life. I've done some great paintings that I would like to paint on some cakes so I could use my time to do that. #20: Tell me why the job you selected (journal #11) connects to your career. If yours doesn’t seem to link, it can, with a bit of imagination. Tell me how. Ex: Even though a high school teacher doesn’t seem to relate to the job of a waitress, it can. I had to help customers with their dinner selection, answer questions, give great service, deal with complaints, and become more interpersonal. In journal #11, I chose to decorate cakes. The career I want is to decorate cakes. The job I chose in journal #11 is the job I want for my career in a way. I want to own my own bakery and getting experience decorating cakes can help me accomplish that. I can learn new techniques and The title of this article is “Teacher Defends Insulting Blog Posts About Her Students: ‘I Hear the Trash Company is Hiring’.” The authors of this article are Andrea Canning and Olivia Katrandjian. The topic of this article is what happens when you post things online that you shouldn’t say. The fact is, Natalie Munroe was suspended with pay for trash talking online. Employers look you up and check your social media. I don’t agree with what happened. She should not have received pay. She not only trash talked about students, but about teachers and administrators as well. She should be suspended without pay. The teacher that locked students in a cage should be expelled. I would think that Natalie Munroe should be expelled, but what she did was not as bad as the teacher that locked kids in a cage. I do not personally know someone, but I see people on Facebook and Twitter trash talking each other all the time. They shouldn’t be saying stuff online. If you shouldn’t say it in person, why say it at all? The people who trash talk and fight on Facebook don’t really care about school or anything that should matter. I will be more careful about what I post on my social media accounts. I post stupid stuff and don’t like to get in where there’s tension. If I’m not a part of it, I’m not joining in. I will make sure I don’t post anything bad. I want to be hired because I need experience. I don’t want to be fired or not hired because of my social media. This article is related to Chapter 6 because Chapter 6 is about finding a job. Employers look up your name and if they see your Facebook or Twitter or anything, they’re going to look at it. The school found her Facebook and she was suspended. limbo (http://definr.com/limbo) n 1: the state of being disregarded or forgotten [syn: oblivion] 2: an imaginary place for lost or neglected things 3: (theology) the abode of infants who die before baptism caricature (http://definr.com/caricature) n : a representation of a person that is exaggerated for comic effect [syn: imitation, impersonation] v : represent in or produce a caricature of; "The drawing caricatured the President" [syn: ape] |
