I plan on using my Aunt Terie to complete this assignment. She works in an office but does baking as a hobby on the side. One perk is that she does what I want to go into. One drawback is that she doesn't actually do baking as an occupation. She knows the business industry and answers phones at her work so she can teach me proper ways of answering phones for a business.
#14: We have discussed your exploratory interview. Who do you plan on completing this portfolio assignment with? What is their career? What is one perk and one drawback of their occupation? Obviously, these are just guesses!

#13: Describe a super cool lesson that a teacher/coach taught. What made it memorable? One paragraph (5-7 sentences), please. A super cool lesson that a coach taught me was as long as you try, you can do it. He use to make us swim across the pool, which is 25 yards long, without coming up for air. I always thought that I wouldn't be able to do it. I was actually able to do it. It took me most of my 6th grade swim season, but I was finally able to do it. I use his lesson now in everything I do. I always try and I usually can accomplish whatever I try for. #12: As you know, you are required to have two work samples scanned in and uploaded to your electronic portfolio. What project, assignment, presentation have you completed that received an impressive grade? What did you learn from that piece of work? I got an impressive grade (53/50) on my Biology test. I learned that from hard work you can achieve anything. I learned genetics from studying for the test and from the classwork. I learned that as long as you try, you can succeed. #11: Since I was 15 years old, I have worked a job. My first one was as a busser at a local restaurant called The Country Inn. If you could select your preferred job, while in high school, where would you work? Tell me why you would rock at this place! If I could select my preferred job while I was in high school, I would work in Kroger's bakery. I love to decorate cakes and cupcakes and I'm really good at it. I've only had one class on it and it was for basic decorating. I have some of my samples in the work samples tab. The title of this article is “Is Your Teen Ready for a Job”? The author of this article is Family Education Staff. The topic of this article is to decide and discuss the benefits and drawbacks of a teenager working. This article relates to our current chapter because Chapter 2 is about careers. Chapter 2 teaches about the workplace and the article is about the benefits and drawbacks of teenagers working while they’re still in school. I disagree because grades are so much more important to me than money. Yes, I need experience but I would rather get that over the summer doing a summer job. If I can get experience doing a summer job because it won’t interfere with school, that’s great. If I can’t, I’ll do it while I’m in college and worry about my grades and maybe getting a scholarship now. My friend got a job and her grades started slipping. She’s graduating this year with a 3.0 but she used to be a 3.8 or 3.9. Grades are much more important to me now because I could possibly get a scholarship and wouldn’t need all that money to pay for tuition. I will use this information to help me decide whether or not to start a job. I will try to get summer jobs for the experience instead of trying to get a job while I’m focusing on school work. This article is all about the workplace. This article is about the drawbacks of teenagers working, the law, and the benefits of teenagers working. I would like to be a waitress or work at an ice cream shop to begin with. Later on, when I’m out of college, I want to become a math teacher and/or a baker. 1)astray (http://definr.com/astray) adv 1: away from the right path or direction; "he was led astray" 2: far from the intended target; "the arrow went wide of the mark"; "a bullet went astray and killed a bystander" [syn: wide] 2)domestic (http://definr.com/domestic) adj 1: of concern to or concerning the internal affairs of a nation; "domestic issues such as tax rate and highway construction" [ant: foreign] 2: of or relating to the home; "domestic servant"; "domestic science" 3: of or involving the home or family; "domestic worries"; "domestic happiness"; "they share the domestic chores"; "everything sounded very peaceful and domestic"; "an author of blood-and-thunder novels yet quite domestic in his taste" [ant: undomestic] 4: converted or adapted to domestic use; "domestic animals"; "domesticated plants like maize" [syn: domesticated] 5: produced in a particular country; "domestic wine"; "domestic oil" n : a household servant [syn: domestic help, house servant] #10: Read this brief article. According to the article, why do you not want to have an elephant’s memory? Out of every moment you’ve had on Earth, name the most memorable one. Two sentence reflection: One about the elephant’s memory and one about a special memory. I don't want to have an elephant's memory because they never forget and I always have something I wish I could forget. The most memorable moment I've had on Earth is when me and my dad going bowling together because its really fun and I enjoy spending time with him. #9: This is one of my favorites. Read this story. What was unbelievable about the softball game? Do you feel disappointed that the newspaper’s headline found their behavior to be unbelievable? Why? Food for thought: Next time you see someone in the hallway who needs help (lost/dropped books), put your hand out. It was unbelievable that Central Washington players carried Western Oregon student Sara Tucholsky around the bases so her first home run would count. I find it disappointing that the newspaper's headline found their behavior to be unbelievable. I know it was unbelievable but it shouldn't be that way. #8: The A’s of Awesome were quite inspirational, eh? List Neil’s three A’s. Then, name one “thing” in life that you consider awesome. Please, make it something you take for granted. Ex: I find fish tanks in Chinese restaurants/doctor’s offices to be the coolest. They are always so clean and the fish inside look so happy. ….Ah. This website is just awesome. Period. A's of Awesome: Authenticity, Awareness, and Attitude. I consider books the coolest. I love books but I take their cost for granted. My dad and mom always buy me books, and I don't even care or think about the cost of them. The title of this article is “The Farmer’s Donkey.” The topic of this article is no matter what, you don’t give up. “The Farmer’s Donkey” relates to Chapter 10 because the chapter is about attitude. The donkey kept a good attitude, I mean, he cried but he didn’t give up. Giving up isn’t a good attitude; however, not giving up is a great one. “The Farmer’s Donkey” is a great example for Chapter 10’s lesson on attitude. I agree with the topic that no matter what, you don’t give up. This topic is a something people should live by. You shouldn’t just give up because what if you’re at work and you give up? That will probably just get you fired. I know someone who gives up. When she can’t do something, she makes someone else do it but she only tries for about 10 minutes and then gives up. I will use this information to help me succeed in life; I will never give up. I will change the way I do things. I believe that this will prepare me to succeed at wherever I work. I will not give up no matter how hard it is. This article applies to Chapter 10 and the workplace because they all have to do with attitude. According to Chapter 10, if you have a good attitude you will succeed in life, which includes the workplace. The donkey in the “The Farmer’s Donkey” had an attitude that was probably because of his fear of death, but he got a better attitude when he overcame his fear and escaped the abandoned well. 1) impossible (http://definr.com/impossible) adj 1: not capable of occurring or being accomplished or dealt with; "an impossible dream"; "an impossible situation" [ant: possible] 2) determine (http://definr.com/determine) v 1: after a calculation, investigation, experiment, survey, or study; "find the product of two numbers"; "The physicist who found the elusive particle won the Nobel Prize" [syn: find, find out, ascertain] #7: We’ll watch this video as you respond to the following question: Describe the most recent time in your life where you did a good deed for someone else. Simplicity works. Who was it for? What prompted you to do this? If you are having trouble coming up with one instance, well, think about how horrible that sounds. One good deed I have done is helping my friend. I help my friend understand our classwork and homework when my teacher doesn't explain enough for her to understand. I enjoy helping my friend understand our work. |
